Black Beret Grenache/Syrah
Black Beret is produced in the Carcassonne, a sub region of Languedoc-Roussilion, one of the largest wine producing regions in France that covers nearly the entire south of France. While Languedoc is known for its warm Mediterranean climate, Black Beret comes from the northern part of the Languedoc at the foot of the Black Mountains. As a result, it benefits from cooler weather, which results in a fresher wine with balanced acidity. Black Beret is a project between negociant Jean-Christophe Calvet and winemaker Hugh Ryman. Made in the style of the sun-drenched Rhones, this wine will seduce you with its rich, luscious fruit, pepper, spice aromas and soft tannins.
80% Grenache, 20% Syrah, the grapes were selected from the best parcels of 9 different estates. Grenache: Old low yielding vines on stony soil. Exceptional vineyards due to age of the vines and quality of the terroir. Syrah: On limestone soils, producing unique red fruit with black berry characters.
Deep red colour with purple fringe. Intense aromas of vanilla, coffee, red fruit, spice and herbs. A lush and rich palette with soft tannins, lingering dark fruit flavors and excellent length.
